Special Events and Fellowship at St. John's Lutheran Church
St. John's Lutheran Church holds bi-monthly fellowship meals and Bible study on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights of each month. Dinner begins at 5:30 PM - Program from 6:15 PM to 7:00 PM. Meals are held weekly during Advent and Lent.
Periodically, especially during church seasons, St. John's Lutheran has special events and/or hosts or works with other church congregations or community organizations to bring special events or activities to the area.

Meeting and Meal
A congregational meeting will be held Sunday, November 18, 11:45 am. The purpose of this meeting is to adopt the 2019 Plan for Mission, to elect congregation council members for 2019-2020 terms, and consider constitutional and bylaw changes (mostly related to the mission endowment fund policy.All members are urged to attend this important meeting. No other business will be brought to the floor.
Everyone is invited to stay for a potluck lunch following the meeting. Please bring a dish or two to share, if you are able!

Wednesday, November 28, 2018 - Hanging of the Greens - Dinner - 5:30 pm and Decorating - 6:15pm.
This gathering to prepare for Advent is a meaningful way to begin the season of Waiting and Hope! You are invited to attend to help decorate the sanctuary for the season - hanging wreaths, placing greenery, and trimming the tree, accompanied by joyful music.
Christmas Float Stuffing Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 7 pm (following Hanging of the Greens), Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7 pm (following Advent Vespers), & Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 6 pm, if needed.
All members are invited to gather at the church to help build and stuff the parade float any or all nights. Don’t miss the fellowship and fun. Dinner will be served Thursday while we work. Children are encouraged to come!

Advent Wreath Workshop Sunday, December 2, 2018 - 9:30 am (between services)
You are invited to make a traditional Advent wreath for your home with fresh greenery and four blue candles! Bring a pair of clippers and gloves if you have them. We start at 9:30 am SHARP in the narthex so you can finish between services!
Wednesday Nights Together in Advent - Behold Our Light Vespers Service

We gather for sung prayer, using beautiful Advent vespers service entitled Behold Our Light.

Children’s Pageant Rehearsal - Sunday, December 9, 2018 - 9:30 am (between services).
All youth and children are invited to rehearse for the pageant.
Beaufort Christmas Parade - Sunday December 9, 2018 - 3 pm - All invited to Participate!
(We meet at 1:45 pm in downtown Beaufort - exact location will not be given to us by parade directors until the day before)
St. John’s and Grace Chapel AME are going to have a float in the downtown Christmas Parade! All members are invited to participate by caroling on the float or walking along the parade route, handing out candy and invitations to Christmas Eve services. All members are asked to purchase individually wrapped Christmas candies and bring them to the church to hand out in the parade! A parade sign up sheet will be in the narthex. For candies, check the after Halloween sale for non-Halloween looking candy.
Youth Christmas Party - Sunday, December 9, 2018 - 5-7 pm - at the Ruff home.
All youth, members and friends in grades 6-12 are invited to a Christmas Party!
Two things to bring: a fun or funny gift (maximum $10) to exchange; and if you wish, party food to share!
(Those who participate in the Beaufort Christmas parade will be taken directly from parade to party.)

One Blood—Blood Drive - Sunday, December 16, 2018 - from 7:30 am — 12:30 pm.
Although we were a few units short of the desired goal in the September blood drive, One Blood had enough success to want to come back! Email Reanna at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up. Please consider giving the gift of life - donate blood to help your neighbors who are in need of blood!
Christmas Pageants - Sunday, December 16, 2018 - 8:15 am and 10:30 am.
A different pageant will be presented at each service:
*** The Christmas Story with interactive congregation participation will be presented during the 8:15 am worship service. Members of the congregation will be invited to participate.
*** The Children’s Christmas Pageant will be presented during the 10:30 am worship service. All youth and children are invited to participate. This retelling of the birth of Jesus, featuring our youngest as angels, shepherds, magi, and holy family is always a blessing! (Rehearsal will be held the prior Sunday, December 9, 2018)
Congregation Christmas Caroling - Sunday, December 16, 2018 - Lunch served following worship - Caroling from 1-3:30 pm.
ALL are invited! -- After worship we will eat lunch, then divide into carloads to travel to the homes of members and friends who are homebound or in Assisted Living facilities. It doesn’t matter if you cannot carry a tune, if you are willing to help share Christmas joy with others, you have all you need. Before the caroling, we will have chili for lunch! Fun for all ages!
Christmas Eve Candlelight with Holy Communion - Monday, December 24, 2018 - 7 pm and 9 pm.
We gather for worship on this holy night to celebrate the birth of Jesus, who is Emmanuel, God with us. Candlelight, special music, and holy communion.
