Hopefully this section shall provide you with what is happening at St John's. We have also provided a few links to other sites that may give you information regarding the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as well as the South Carolina Synod. Wednesday Night Worship in June - Congregation Sing-a-long on Wednesday, June 11 with Caroline Peterson and Congregation Talent Show on Wednesday, June 25. Contact Joni Moritz and Denise Bishop if you have a talent you want to share. Rubbish Rustlers - A big "Thank You" to all volunteers who met here at the church on Saturday, May 10th to pick up 14 bags of litter along Lady's Island Drive. The Rubbish Rustlers will meet on Saturday, July 12th at 8:30 am. See you there! Worship Services - The Worship Services are now available on CD. The Evangelism Committee has worked hard to provide this ministry to our sick and shut-ins and has purchased all of the equipment to do so. If you are interested in receiving these recorded services, please contact the church office. Seminary Internship Update - Seminary student Scott Hannon has been assigned by Southern Seminary in Columbia to be St John's inter for a full year, beginning in mid-August. Scott has completed two years of class work, will serve as student pastor with St John's for one year, then return to the seminary for a final year of class work before being ordained as a pastor. Vacation Bible School at St. John's - Co-sponsored by Tidal Creek Fellowship and Waters Edge Methodist Monday - Thursday evenings, July 7-10. Classes for all ages - Dinner will be served. The VBS will be located at St John's. Summer intern Laura Mohrmann will be directing the program. Volunteers from all three congregations will be needed to help with classes, activities, and meals. Our hope is that placing the program between the Fourth of July holiday weekend and the Beaufort Water Festival will allow many to attend. Family Promise Ministry Update - We will be hosting guests with Family Promise of the Low Country August 3-9. So what does that mean for St John's? We will need many members to volunteer. This will be a large undertaking. There will be setup at the beginning and take down at the end. There will always be at least two members present to host our Guests. There will be meals to prepare and serve. You will have an opportunity to cook, to move things, to greet people, to sit and talk with guests, and even to sleep over. There will be more than 60 spots to fill on the volunteer sheet and we would rather fill them with 60 people, not 20 people three times each. Torey Conner will be serving as congregation coordinator of this ministry. Distilled Water Needed - Thank you for being so generous in your donations of distilled water to be used in the Baptismal Font. We continue to be in need of distilled water as the fond uses one gallon per week. Name Tags - With so many new faces, it is especially important to wear your name tag. If you do not have one or have lost yours, just add your name to the list in the Narthex. A new one will be made for you and will be placed in the box. A big thanks to Doti Wilson for this very important ministry! Newsletter Deadline - 15th of the month & Sunday Bulletin Deadline - Wednesdays at 12:00 noon. |
