In July 2012, eleven St. John's high school students will be traveling to join 35,000 other ELCA youth for the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans.
One of the fundraisers to help make this trip possible is the St. John's John Patrol. This consists of a beautiful / terrible purple traveling toilet - St. John's John, which will make appearances in our community.
When "John" is placed in a victim's yard, the victim will be asked to make a $25 donation in order to have "John" removed. The victim also gets to choose the next victim.
Sealed donations were received, with the highest bidder having the privilege of choosing the first "victim".
If you did / do not want "John" in your yard, you have the opportunity to to buy insurance for $40.00.
The St. John’s John Patrol has been busy!
We would like to announce the official St. John’s John Patrol First Family is Larry and Mari-Ann Taylor! This honor is thanks to Denise and Rudy Bishop, who made the largest initial donation to the effort and won the chance to choose the first victim. In a surprising turn of events, Rudy and Denise, as well as Gordon and Ann Haigler, were present at the Taylor home when the purple potty was delivered!
Since then, the toilet has not grown any moss and has continued to be on the move on to other members. Even had a decorated plunger added to it. If you don’t want it to come to you, buy insurance - otherwise, look out!
